Celebrating SHF’s 55th Anniversary in Style at the National Gallery Singapore

 

We Turned 55!

In commemoration of the Singapore Heart Foundation’s (SHF) 55th anniversary, we held a successful event on6 Apr 2025 at theNational Gallery Singapore, which saw a turnout of close to 500. 

Themed“Resilient HeARTs: Celebrating 55 Years of Empowering Heart Health”, the celebratory event paid tribute to the resilience and commitment of those who have walked our 55-year journey with us on our mission and reaffirmed our commitmentto better heart health in Singapore. 

The Resilient heARTs Exhibition

A highlight of the event was the Resilient heARTsexhibition, which featured 55 art pieces and soundscapes contributed by SHF stakeholders, including cardiac arrest survivors, Heart Wellness Centre clients, their family members, volunteers, a board member and staff, to commemorate their resilience and celebrate their commitment to building a heart-healthier nation together with us.

At the event, more than 200 enthusiastic members of the public creating their own unique and meaningful art pieces at six art stations, namely: the Moss Photo Frame Workshop hosted by the Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS); the “Soft Tissue, Hard Design” Workshop hosted by the Singapore Association for Mental Health (SAMH); the Sustainable Urban Farming Workshop hosted by Everything Green; the Create and Craft Workshop by the Singapore Fashion Runway; the Artistic Crafting Workshop hosted by celebrated Singaporean illustrator, Mr Patrick Yee; and the Heartfelt Memento Workshop hosted by local visual artist, Ms Elisa Liu.

Launch of SHF’s 55th Anniversary Celebrations

In the Glass Room, SHF Chairman Prof Tan Huay Cheem delivered a welcoming speech at the start of the event and SHF Chairman Emeritus Dr Low Lip Ping took everyone on a trip down memory lane, recounting the history and milestones of SHF. 

Following that, SHF CEO Mr Geoffrey Ong unveiled the line-up of our 55thanniversary celebration activities for the year, including the SHF Charity TV Show to be aired on Mediacorp Channel 8 on 29 Jun 2025, from 7pm to 10pm.

Minister Ong Ye Kung was our Guest of Honour

The event was also graced by the Minister for Health, Mr Ong Ye Kung. Minister Ong toured the various art stations and a series of meaningful exhibits relevant to SHF’s key programmes and initiatives. 

These include our newly launched motion-sensing CardioChase Game Kiosk designed to engage primary and secondary school students to educate them about heart-healthy lifestyle habits; the CPR Self-Learning Kiosk which offers members of the public a firsthand experience of CPR and encourage them to learn the skill; as well as the BP Awareness Kiosk which provides the public with a convenient way to measure their blood pressure at any time.

After trying out the CardioChase Game Kiosk and the CPR Self-Learning Kiosk, Minister Ong delivered an inspiring speech which also recognised SHF for its contributions to Singapore in the past 55 years, before officiating at the launch ceremony for the celebration event. 

Representatives of the close and long-time partners of SHF, such as HTM Medico, Nestle Singapore and Novartis Singapore, were also present at the launch ceremony to share this joyous moment.

An Insightful Dialogue with Industry Experts

The finale of the event was the “Building Tomorrow with Heart and Resilience” Mandarin dialogue session, co-organised by SHF and Fortune Times, which welcomed an enthusiastic audience of around 60 participants who came to listen to the inspiring views of SHF Chairman, Prof Tan Huay Cheem; Chairman, Singapore-China Trade Technology & Culture Exchange Association,Dr Wu Wei; and Co-Founder, Griffin Group and Vice Chairman, Hong Kong Singapore Business Association,Ms Mei Reading.

The Real Finale: Our Staff Celebration

The occasion concluded with a joyous staff celebration where numerous cupcakes with candles were specially arranged on a table to form the number “55”, symbolically marking SHF’s 55th birthday.
